Correspondence, sermons, and other papers of Haynes, active in church affairs and in civil rights; his son, Frederick Douglas Haynes, Jr., also a Baptist clergyman; and his second wife, Charlie Mae (Crawford) Lomax Haynes, concert artist and church worker, who worked for San Francisco Dept. of Social Services and was an elected commissioner on San Francisco Board of Education (1972-1974); together with material relating to the church, the largest black congregation in Northern California, including its history and documents relating to construction of its new building (1952), annual reports (1946-1974), and other papers.
